This is the first Pinot Noir made by communities participating in Corfo's "Red Proveedores Indígenas" viticulture training programme.

Eleven Mapuche families from Malleco are participating in an innovative viticulture training programme, implemented by VSPT Wine Group, within the framework of Corfo's "Red Proveedores Indígenas" programme. The initiative, managed by the Araucanía Productive Development Committee, seeks to boost Pinot Noir grape production in the region, with a focus on sustainability, strengthening the technical and business management skills of the participating communities.

The initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of the beneficiary communities, providing them with ongoing technical advice in critical areas such as vineyard management, pest control, frost prevention and efficient use of agricultural machinery. All this is done with a focus on sustainability, promoting a sustainable production model adapted to the climatic and cultural conditions of the territory.

El viñedo se ubica en Buchahueico, a 38 kms del mar.
The vineyard is located in Buchahueico, 38 kms from the sea.

For Eduardo Figueroa, director of Corfo Araucanía, the programme is a milestone for the region: "The programme is a milestone for the region. We are providing key tools to these families to diversify their production system, favouring the production of Pinot Noir grapes in Malleco. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen the local economy with a sustainable approach.".

The programme lasts for three years and seeks, in addition to improving agricultural practices, to strengthen the business management of the beneficiaries, including training in budget management, inventory control, soft skills and job security.

Carolina Gotuzzo, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at VSPT Wine Group, highlighted the importance of this project: "We are very proud of this project," she said.Since 2015, we have worked hand in hand with the Mapuche communities of Malleco, and this programme reinforces our commitment to sustainable development and the creation of shared value. Through technical training and continuous accompaniment, we seek to empower local producers, helping them to become independent entrepreneurs with a long-term vision.".

For his part, José Chicahual, president of the Buchahueico Community, emphasised the positive impact of the programme: "We didn't think about growing grapes before, but we saw that they grow well in the area. This project opened up a new opportunity for us to generate employment and development within our community.".

El proyecto TAYU nace en 2015 como una asociación entre comunidades mapuches y Viña San Pedro Tarapacá
The TAYU project was born in 2015 as a partnership between Mapuche communities and Viña San Pedro Tarapacá.

César Rodríguez, deputy national director of Indap, underlined that this collaboration between VSPT Wine Group and indigenous communities is an example of how the private sector can contribute to the development of emerging territories. "The work with the communities of Buchahueico and Hueico Chico not only diversifies the local economy, but also positions the region as a benchmark in the production of high quality wines.".

With this initiative, VSPT Wine Group reaffirms its commitment to La Araucanía, promoting a development model that combines tradition, innovation and sustainability, generating a positive impact for the Mapuche communities and the Chilean wine industry.
