Only an hour and a half north of Santiago, in the Valparaíso Region, Aconcagua is still an undiscovered valley for national and foreign tourists. Hence the importance of organising a fair that gives the opportunity to get to know the wines produced here and its traditions, rooted since the discovery of Chile.

The Aconcagua Cup will take place in Casa San Regis: an 18th century mansion, historical and architectural heritage of the commune of San Esteban, which stands imposingly among vineyards and vineyards, at the foot of the Andes Mountains.

On this stage, more than 20 vineyards and wine producers will be on display, showing the diversity and oenological richness that characterises the valley.

The Aconcagua Cup will take place on 8 November between 12pm and 11pm. Tickets are on sale now at Passline, and include an engraved glass and free access to the tastings.

Among the vineyards called are Casa San Regis, Aconcagua Farms, In Situ Family Vineyards, Viña Baron Knyphausen, Bodega Briones, Casa Padic, Vinos Don Raúl, Viña El Encanto, Viña El Escorial, Viña Errázuriz, Flaherty Wines, Hacienda Valdeperillo, Vinos Infinitas, Vino La Joda, Mítico Wines, Narbona Wines, Viña Peppi, Viña Peumayén, Viña Sánchez de Loria, Viña Von Siebenthal and U.P. Winesamong others.

As part of the fair, Casa San Regis will also present its new wine: a Carmenere made with grapes from its own vineyard adjacent to the house (planted in 2014), a project that is the brainchild of renowned winemaker Ed Flaherty.

Along with local wineries, some producers and wineries from other valleys of Chile will also be invited, in a section that seeks to include those who are in one way or another related to the agricultural and productive activity of Aconcagua.

The Aconcagua Cup will take place on 8 November between 12pm and 11pm. Tickets, which are on sale at Passline, include an engraved glass and free access to tastings at all the wineries. There will also be an exhibition of local crafts, gastronomy, music and activities: guided tours of the manor house, paddle tennis exhibition match, among other activations. The fair will culminate with a Beatles Tribute show (Támesis Band), from 21:00 to 22:00 hrs.

CASA SAN REGIS: ITS HISTORY

With more than 20 years of experience as an event centre and boutique hotel, the owners of Casa San Regis Marcela Zenteno and Alexis Arribas, together with the Municipality of San Esteban, open the doors of the hacienda as the host vineyard for "La Copa de Aconcagua".

The idea of planting vineyards in 2014 arose with the intention of rescuing one of the activities of the old Hacienda San Regis, which is reflected not only in its old plans (where it is indicated that there was a vineyard), but also within its construction: the history shows a large underground cellar and wine cellar that exists to this day.

"We want to make our wine known, accompanied by the vineyards and those who have been in this trade for so long. Our intention is for "The Aconcagua Cup" to be an event that not only positions the valley on the national wine map, but also shows its rich heritage and history through San Regis," says Marcela.

About SAN REGIS

The history of the Hacienda San Regis begins around 1740 when the Spanish Crown entrusted "all the territory north of the Aconcagua River" to Don Andrés de Toro Mazote. The Spaniard built a large house in the Moorish-Spanish style against the natural backdrop of the Andes Mountains.
In 1756 it was donated to the Jesuits, who christened it San Juan Francisco de Regis. In 1767 the Crown ordered the expulsion of the Jesuits and in 1769 all their property was sold.

The trail of possible owners was lost until the beginning of the 19th century when it passed into the hands of the Hurtado family, under the name of Fundo San Regis. It then covered 11,000 hectares. After several successions, it came to the Ipinza family and later to the Espínola family, who kept the house and the estate - now covering 40 hectares - before it came into the hands of the Arribas family in 1971.
