Non-alcoholic wine is no longer just an alternative or a passing fad, it is a new expression of quality and lifestyle, which has undoubtedly been generating a transformation in the sector worldwide.

This is mainly driven by the new generations who are more conscious of their health, wellbeing and control over their social decisions, without giving up the pleasure of wine and enjoying the experience.

The segment has grown significantly in recent years in different international markets, where it is no longer a question of offering an alternative "for non-drinkers", but of creating a new category with its own identity, capable of offering pleasure, sophistication and pairing, but without the alcoholic component.

International leadership

The industry has understood: quality is no longer an issue, and oenological innovation has made it possible for a non-alcoholic wine to compete - and win - in the field of taste, technique and authenticity. This was confirmed by the renowned magazine FalstaffThe May 2025 edition evaluated 110 dealcoholised wines in one of the most influential international competitions in the field.

Among the highlights, two Familia Torres wines shone brightly, consolidating their leadership in this expanding category.

In the main category of wines with 0.0% alcohol, first place went to Natureo white Muscat 2024produced in Spain by Familia Torres. With a spicy character and surprising aromatic persistence, this wine was praised for its balance, freshness and technical precision. It is a flagship product that embodies the Torres family's more than 20 years of experience in making non-alcoholic wines.

Meanwhile, from the southern hemisphere, Miguel Torres Chile was also recognised with its recent launch: Serena Mode 2023the first fully de-alcoholised Chilean wine made 100% from the sauvignon blanc variety. With an expressive and vibrant varietal profile, this wine reaffirms the winery's commitment to innovation and sustainability.

New consumer preferences

"The growth of non-alcoholic wine is a direct response to new forms of more conscious consumption, where health, enjoyment and quality are not mutually exclusive".he says Eduardo JordánTechnical Director and Winemaker of Miguel Torres Chile. "With Serena, we wanted to show that it is possible to create a modern, elegant wine with identity, without compromising taste or authenticity"..

Both wines were made using advanced dealcoholisation techniques, without the use of chemicals and respecting the original structure of the wine.

In the case of Serena, a system of rotating conical discs under vacuum is used, a state-of-the-art physical process that allows the aromas and flavours of the grapes to be preserved.

The growing international appreciation of these wines confirms that the future of non-alcoholic wine is no longer just a promise, but a sophisticated and transversal reality. And once again, Familia Torres is at the forefront of this path in permanent transformation.

Serena Mode sauvignon blanc you can find it in the wine shops of the culinary embassies Bodeguita Miguel Torres in Curicó and Vitacura, and also in the online shop www.grandesterrunos.cl.
