Viña Santa Rita presents Floresta Sauvignon Blanc 2023, the sixth member of its acclaimed line characterised by a minimal intervention oenology that seeks to authentically reflect the character of unique terroirs in Chile.

With an innovative approach that respects the origins, this collection explores the most distinctive corners of the country, offering new interpretations of classic varieties.

A cool-climate, late-harvest Sauvignon Blanc made from a single hectare planted on granitic soils in San Antonio in the Leyda Valley, just 12 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, this wine strongly expresses its coastal origins.

The marked maritime influence and the low thermal oscillation of the site result in a fresh, deep and elegant wine, with aromas of white flowers, passion fruit and delicate mineral notes.

Unlike the norm in Chile, where this variety is usually vinified in stainless steel without contact with oxygen, Floresta Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in French oak barrels and remained 18 months (two winters) in contact with its lees, which gives the wine more body and a unique complexity in aromas and flavours.

"It is a complex and elegant wine that brings out its full potential: aromas of white flowers, gooseberry and passion fruit, accompanied by delicate mineral notes that enrich the palate, extending the sensation to the finish. It is a wine of great richness and flavour, with a silky texture, ample, concentrated, deep and persistent", says Teresita Ovalle, winemaker of the Floresta line, who in 2024 was recognised by the CAV's Mesa de Cata guide as "Young Winemaker of the Year".

He also explains that the presence of a small percentage of Semillon, from old vines, further enhances its depth and balance, adding tension, weight and volume.

Surprising and outstanding

This wine has already received important awards. It obtained 95 points in the Descorchados guide, where it was named Revelation Wine and highlighted among the best whites in Chile.

It also received 95 points from Tim Atkin who chose it as "White Wine Discovery of the Year", and 92 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, where critic Matthew Luczy described it as "a beautiful expression of coastal Sauvignon Blanc".

In this way, this new Sauvignon Blanc consolidates Floresta's proposal as a collection that interprets the classic varieties from the place, with wines that surprise for their identity and expression. It is now available exclusively at www.santaritaonline.cl
