In Chile, seafood and fish occupy a central place in our gastronomy, especially when it comes to sharing around the table with family or friends.

And there is no better partner for those flavours than a great white wine. Viña Leyda has the perfect pairing: its Lot 5 Chardonnay 2023, recently elected Best White Wine of Chile by the renowned Descorchados Guide 2025, with 98 points, sharing the first place with Las Pizarras Chardonnay 2023 from Errázuriz.

Sourced from the El Granito vineyard, just four kilometres from the Pacific Ocean in the Leyda Valley, this chardonnay reflects the full coastal identity of the valley with its vibrant acidity, elegant texture and depth of flavours that evoke white fruits, fresh herbs and subtle spices.

A wine that speaks of the sea from its origin and that finds its best expression with dishes such as machas a la parmesana, ceviches, locos with green sauce or a classic caldillo de congrio (conger eel stew).

"What is most striking is the smooth texture, the firm, nervous acidity, the deep flavours in a white that drinks well now, but which will evolve towards greater complexity with a few years in the bottle", says the Descorchados 2025 Guide.

Some ideal meals to enjoy with Lot 5 Chardonnay 2023

  • Ceviche of red snapper or sea bass, with hints of citrus and fresh herbs
  • Machas a la parmesana, balancing the creaminess with the acidity of the wine
  • Oysters au gratin, where the texture of the wine enhances the sweetness of the seafood.
  • Locos with green sauce, a combination that enhances freshness and minerality.
  • Crab or seafood pie, with its intensity and creaminess harmonising with the body of the chardonnay.
  • Baked salmon with herbs, which finds in this wine a fresh and structured counterpoint.

"Lot 5 is a wine that was born very close to the sea, and that influence can be perceived in every glass. It is fresh, complex and has a great capacity to accompany seafood dishes with elegance and character", says Viña Leyda.

The winery's proposal is clear: take advantage of this season to reconnect with traditional cuisine and enjoy the perfect pairing between white wines and seafood. Whether at the beach, at home or at a family gathering, a good white wine can elevate any meal.

In addition to the award-winning Lot 5, Viña Leyda offers an award-winning selection of coastal whites, such as Lot 4 Sauvignon Blanc 2024, which scored 97 points in Descorchados 2025. Options that allow us to explore different aromatic profiles, always maintaining the freshness and personality that characterises the valley.
