Maturana Sunset Festival Dazzles at its 6th Edition

More than 3,000 people enjoyed wine, music, and gastronomy at an experience that remarkably combined landscape, harvest vibes, and wine culture at the gateway to the Colchagua Valley.

With the start of March and the harvest atmosphere in the Colchagua Valley, Viña Maturana located in San Fernando, has reopened its doors for a new edition of its Maturana Sunset Festival, an event that in this edition attracted more than 3,000 people, consolidating itself as a distinct and attractive offering within the region's wine tourism calendar.

What began as an intimate gathering of friends and wine lovers has evolved into an experience that blends wine, music, gastronomy, and nature, maintaining the relaxed and intimate spirit that characterises this boutique vineyard.

The March election is no coincidence. For the vineyard, it coincides with one of the most intense moments of the wine-growing calendar: the harvest, when the valley fills with activity and the season's end is experienced with special energy.

“Holding the Sunset in March is a way to celebrate the end of summer and, at the same time, mark the start of the new wine cycle. It's a date that connects with the land, the harvest, and celebration,” explained Sebastián Maturana, one of the founding partners.

Wine, music and landscape

The festival allowed us to experience the vineyard and its offerings from a closer, more natural, and responsible consumption perspective. Therefore, for this edition, the event has also incorporated a broader musical curation, new relaxation zones, and a more prominent gastronomic offering, always keeping the house wine and exponents from Colchagua Andes as the central focus of the experience.

As part of the schedule, one of the highlights was a vertical cat Wine MW in Magnum format, directed by its winemaker and also founding partner, José Ignacio Maturana. The occasion included the tasting of three old vintages – with more than ten years of cellaring – of this Carmenere, one of the house's flagship wines.

Among the tags that were available to all attendees at the Sunset Festival, some of the project's most representative exponents stood out, such as the Torontel Orange Wine, fresh and very gastronomic for sunset, as well as reds like Syrah or Malbec, which accompanied the transition into the evening.

In parallel, music played a starring role throughout the day, with the presentation of Fugitives, considered one of the tribute bands to Soda Stereo most recognised in South America, along with The Latin Pool, one of the fundamental names in the history of Chilean hip hop.

The programming also included the stage “”Ultrabailable“, with sets from recognised DJs, while the Electro Stage ”Turbina" brought together several names from the current electronic scene.

Among them is the Brazilian DJ Tommax, known for his sunset performances at the Sunset event of the Sugarloaf Cable Car in Rio de Janeiro; DJ David Schaffer, who has participated in festivals such as Creamfields and Lollapalooza; and, among others, the journalist and DJ Roberto Cox, who has appeared alongside international figures such as Bob Sinclar and the Australian duo Nerve.

A growing boutique vineyard

This new edition of the Sunset Festival is undoubtedly proof of the rapid path to consolidation for Maturana Vineyards, which in recent years has strengthened its identity as a boutique project focused on wines with character and wine tourism experiences linked to the territory.

More than a one-off event, Sunset is becoming a meeting place that each year draws more wine lovers, audiences of all ages who enjoy a 360° presentation, attracted by the mix of landscape, outdoor life, music, and wine culture at the entrance to the Colchagua Valley.
